  • US9944198 (B2) – Vehicle – A method to control vehicle deceleration in order to optimise energy recovery, while maintaining necessary headway to a vehicle or obstacle in front

  • EP2903871 (B1) – Adaptive braking system and method – A brake control concept to optimise brake boost based on friction conditions of the brake hardware, environmental data, and other relevant vehicle attributes

  • US9416834 (B2) – Braking System for a vehicle – a system to combine improved brake cooling with increased electrical energy usage, accounting for regenerative braking with a full battery, and thereby enabling brake downsizing within an electric vehicle.

  • WO2018104740 – Braking System – A method to add haptic feedback into the brake pedal force progression, allowing the driver to feel a distinct haptic point within the pedal. This can be used to signify a change in brake behaviour, such as the limit of available regenerative braking, and the transition to friction braking.

  • EP3313705 (A1) Method of controlling speed of vehicle – predictive approach to vehicle deceleration control, based on location, environment, historical performance

Papers and Presentations

  • EuroBrake 2012 – co-chair of inaugural session on regenerative braking 
  • EuroBrake 2013 – lead author on paper for brake cooling optimisation, utilising CFD, thermodynamic FEA and iterative approach. Method proven through vehicle test program.
  • SAE Brake Colloquim 2016 – lead author on paper detailing NVH development of CSiC brake system for flagship limosene program
  • Intelligent Braking 2017 – Keynote speaker – presentation on brake trends over the previous century, and how this informs the coming decades
